We're in New York

So, the other day I erased every picture we've ever taken since we've been married, even before we got married. I'm an idiot. Today we're in NYNY at the Apple Store, which is incredible by the way. Hopefully, I'll be able to retrieve our photos, otherwise I won't have any proof of my adventures.

We're not here for the sole purpose of our computer though, this is our first stop on our anniversary celebration trip. We're staying Peter Sperop through Saturday, and then we move on to Maine, then Boston, then Canton, OH.

In an effort not further complicate the photo situation, I'm trying not to use our laptop anymore, which is why sme of your sitemeters now have a NYNY location show up.

We'll talk later-

-well alright-

oh no!! i totally feel your pain. it's wierd. being disconnected, both from teh present (ie. no computer with all your comfortable-personalized-easy-to-find files and settings) and from the past (no photographic record of your adventures and moments! yikes! did they even exist!?) back up, baby, back up, that's what everyone keeps telling me. well dang it! that's not goign to bring my stuff back! ah well, live and learn, and let go! good luck retrieving them (try http://www.ontrack.com/ they are really good) have fun in NYC and say hey and HUG Peter-super-sperop for me!

yeah - i can try to help...if you have to use ontrack...be prepared to shell out some big bucks...we use them for some of our customers - i think the cheapest one we ever got done was about $3k. Yes, $3000. Of course, it's all corp stuff. Maybe it would be cheaper for you - you can get an online quote. Just don;t use your computer at all - don;t reload software etc...!!!

ok about your computer...if you keep using it it will be harder to recover the pics because you will be writing over the recoverable info. So, I wouldn;t use it...it doesn't matter that you copied your info over to another HDD. you didn't copy what wasn't there. you're getting closer and closer to being SOL. ;)

man, sounds nice...the trip that is, not the photo wipe. I would die. Enjoy and happy anniversary!

Oh and Baberaham, I haven't forgotten about you. I finally finished editing and cropping (vacation has a way of delaying things) and will be putting the cd's in the mail to you on Monday!!

oh teilhets! thanks for the note—i'm so happy that you're having a girl! i just read through all your posts (i've been a little out of touch lately.) i'm sorry to hear that you're not doing the Chicago marathon, but i'm sure Towpath will be nice, too. i just love that beth got to take over in the ER. (seriously john, you couldn't have chosen better.)

it seems like you all are doing very well and i'm so glad. :)

Hey thats funny that you erased all those pictures. It reminds me of something funny I did to adrian two years ago when we were roomies: I took an up close picture of a fruit-basket (wink, wink) and pasted it as the background on his computer. It was sooooo funny. I guess your story reminded me of it because he immediately erased it, He obviously wasnt as thrilled about it as me.
