Just keeping up with Tim

I mean really, what's a 4th of July without a trip to the ER, and I didn't even need fireworks to get there. Really though, I couldn't let Tim get all the attention.

I hold alot of pride in the fact that I lived a life without stiches or broken bones, and I've done it without living in a bubble. I've been bruised and cut and a little dazed, but never seriously broken; it's a good record......and it's still going. Last night, I thought the record had come to an end, but you'll never believe what they can do with a little super glue these days.

The wife and I had a bunch of friends over for the 4th. Sweet Beth turned out an incredible setup with pork, chicken, brats, kielbasa, and some incredible homemade ice cream. On top of that, most people brought over a little something to share. Watermelon, salad, and corn. It was awesome, although, I never did get around to eating.

I'm not much for sitting around and chatting, so I made sure there was plenty to do. We were driving golfballs into the neighbors field, longboarding down the driveway, playing some bolo. Oh, and the trampoline! How could I forget about the trampoline?

Four of us were playing a game on the trampoline; it was a little like musical chairs. The four of us were each trying to get one of three tennis balls. As you may imagine, it usually gets kinda rough when there's a ball up for grabs with two or more grown men going after it. Somewhere in the scramble for a ball, Labig and myself collided head to head. I wound up with the ball and nice size cut above my right eye. Labig was unscathed except for a headache, .....but he lost.

Here's the beauty of being married to an RN. When most wives would freak out, my wife remained oh so calm and collected all the while with a slight smirk on her face. I myself was only slightly upset at the realization that my first stiches ever would come from a trampoline accident. At any rate, both of us thought it was funny that we were leaving our guests to carry on the party.

At the ER, after the hour in the waiting room, we made it to the triage. Is it weird that after only a couple questions, the guy somehow knew my temperment for risk taking? Out of nowhere he asked if I wanted to join a group to go skydiving. Here's my theory, there is a school of thought about thrillseekers which is based on their resting heart rate. The lower it is the higher level of risk the person must seek to achieve any level of excitement. Well, my usually lies between 40 and 50 beats per minute, that's pretty low. The triage guy of course noticed this as he was taking my bloodpressure and such.

At any rate, the ER was backed up and apparently there was only one doctor on duty. The doctor assessed my situation and said he'd be back to glue it up in awhile. Beth piped up and offered to do it if he was too busy. When he came back he actually did let her do it, which she loved. Even better, next time this happens we'll know what to do and won't even have to bother with the ER.

-well alright-

Dude, I totally had that thing in my hand before you tied to body slam me. Like little bro always says, "Don't mess with a Labig." Glad to hear the streak is in tact. It is also good to know you will always think of me when you look in the mirror. Now if only I can get the women to do that...

The whole way the blood streaked down your face reminds me of the time we were skiing and you ended up with a ski in your forehead. I sure thought you were going to break your stitch-streak when that happened.

You made yellow team proud that day.

Hey big buddy, yep you got it right on my blog, I should have just used little buddy as a user name eh? Hey about the would it kind of reminds me of the time you hit yourself with your own ski coming down the mountain... hahahah.. that was awesome! Good times.

Hey I just realized that some other person was refering to the same thing I was about the ski, however they did not leave their name. I would not have said it if I would have read the other comments first. So now its probably not as funny to you. Sorry I will try harder nest time. By the way you should come up to Alberta again. We could watch the wheat and barely grow. Maybe even ride a cow...a mad one.
Peace

it's amazing what you can accomplish with a little super glue. my little one had her forehead superglued together too. she actually fell asleep while they were patching her up- she's got a high pain tolerance too, I guess.
haha, kel! did he cry? yeah right! he was probably cracking jokes and laughing the whole time.

the resting heart-rate related to level of risk taking theory makes perfect sense. back when i was young and did foolish things more often i sat around the 50s. but with a slow increase into the 60's and 70's im a lot less prone to adrenalyny stuff. weird. you should write some kind of thesis on it.
