Snubbed

I've got no good hook to this post, so I'll just let you know that I was snubbed today - totally ignored and avoided. Actually, this is the second time this couple has failed to acknowledge me. I am usually worry free about things or life in general, but for some reason this really bothered me. I can't figure out when I became so worthless to them as to not even deserve a nod in my general direction. I mean I know these people, or I KNEW them back in highschool. I could tell you their parents names, what year they graduated and how many siblings they have. Sure, we were never all that close, but we were friends to a certain degree.

At least this time it wasn't quite so obvious as the first time, but it was still obvious enough. I saw them first, but knowing from the previous encounter that they would be uncomfortable with my presence, I took a longer route to my destination. However, my destination was still in the same Lowe's paint section that they were perusing, so I held onto a small hope that when they did notice me it would be a little more courteous. No such luck.

My hope is that they have a bonified reason to avoid me, at least then I would understand, but I just don't get it. I can't think of anything that would cause them to be so apparently rude. The way I figure it is if you recognize someone that should automatically demand a courteous smile if not a "hey, how are you?" I mean, I'm not looking for a conversation. GOSH!

-well alright-

how rude! I smile and nod at people just because i think well, maybe i know them, but i'm not sure...
John, next time i see you, i will say hi but I won't force you to have a conversation :)

If I find myself in a situation like that, I kind of enjoy stretching it, making them as uncomfortable as possible. You should have definitely gone up to them and started talking as if you didn't even notice they snubbed you. I have no tollerance for rudeness. My kids know how to behave better than that. That is so rude.

Sometimes I snub people, but not on purpose. I'm generally a nice guy. Now that I think of it, i think I "snubbed" a few people just yesterday at church. Of course I had a lot on my mind.

But for you to be snubbed - I'd bet they know who you are and to some degree a bit saddened that they really don't know you. Some people are like that. I wouldn't think they'd have a real reason to snub you...

heheh - take kelly's advice and see what they do the next time you see them...maybe they think you snub them. (of course I know you don't...but people think the strangest things...especially when they don't know the person)

So i don't think that every time we see someone we know we have to say hi, i find myself in situations that i see people that i know, or that ie think i know and i have absoultey nothing to say to them, i would just feel stupid talking to them, so maybe i pretend i don't see them just to avoid any awkwardness, not because of them but more because of me. john i don't think you should take it to hart.
